The day that I almost celebrated the 2nd World Cup in a row...

It started as any given sunday after a very long party… Before we even planned to make the championship, we had a very healthy meal at Jeff’s, where the main topic was the previous night… for any details, please contact me through 507876191. The good part is that we always remember about the good moments and by divine intervention we tend to forget about the worst ones.

Friends getting together in front of a huge LCD, as PES World Cup was about to begin, around 18 p.m... Five teams were looking for the prize. Gonçalo, former champion of the world with his mighty and brave players of Gana, trying to bring the first world cup trophy to the African continent. Rodrigo, with his calculist Italian team, waiting for his opponents´ mistakes. João playing with Portugal, where pontifies the best striker in the world, NUNO GOMES (of course I am being ironic… but benfica supporters such as Rodrigo… well better not even comment coz on the other day one even said that he was better than Pipo Inzaghi from AC Milan – this is the proof that alcohol and drugs are harmful to your body). Roy a.k.a. Rui Tirameisso (translation to English is take it off – I think I do not need to explain the meaning), with his powerful Argentina. For last, but none the least, Tiago, debuting with the polish squad, ready to make some mess and of course, to do some damages in their opponents’ legs. The set and the bets are done. The Tournament is about to begin.

I will skip to the last game, where two teams had the opportunity to celebrate the victory. Looking at the table, Argentina was leading the championship with 8 points, after winning Gana, in a match where the influence of the referee was quite evident. Italy was 2nd with 7 points, without any chance of being what so ever (the only chance was to revalidate is 2nd place which can be called very politely as the first place of the last). Gana was in 3rd place with 6 points and about to face Portugal at the last match of the championship. Everything was at Gonçalo´s hand. Unfortunately, once again the uncultured African players were facing 14th players, as the influence of referee team has to be questioned. Once again, the African people were put aside. This seems to be clear and some players of Gana, namely PIMPONG, the best left winger of the tournament, are at this precise moment on food strike in front of FIFA´s Headquarters, trying to put some sense and trying to get a sportive truth (I hope the translation of Verdade Desportiva is well done – expression which is so many times used by individuals such as Valentim Loureiro or Luís Felipe Vieira).

Well, bottom line of this, I was not champion again because of outside factors, where I could include the so called “THE PRESSURE” (This will be a subject for a next post). Moreover, another excuse is that this time there was no prize money so the motivation for the African players was clear. And if by any chance I am not being impartial and only explaining my side of this championship, you are totally mistaken…

P.S.: I ended at the 4th place. Putting myself in Rodrigo’s shoes and try to see always some positive angle, I have to say that I was in second place… counting from the bottom…

Baroni,

Estou a ver que o 1º Campeonato do Mundo de PES 2008 foi apenas obra do acaso. O Roy já vinha dando indicações que era um sério candidato ao título (nem que seja por ter enfrentado The Polish Hammer).

Um abraço simples,

Vasco Carvalho

Ps: Devolve o amaciador ao meu irmão, sff.

Comment by request of TRHTPW:

"Not much to say about this poor and badly written blog, moreover
about this particular piece about one boring sunday afternoon, which
impartiality is certainly questionable...

Starting with the title...

"The day that I almost celebrated the 2nd World Cup in a row..."?????

what about:

"The day that I almost ranked 5th out of 5 teams playing..." - one of
which was playing the game for the first time... (this is more like it)

Gentleman... let´s try to keep it real...
Like that short guy who constantly seems to forget he´s bold, this
poor young man seems to forget he has no clue about how to play this
video game...

i´ll be back...

take care,
